freddycontrerasphotoFreddy is a Venezuelan-born musician who enjoys a versatile career as a chamber player, pedagogue and organizational leader. Currently based in Philadelphia, Freddy serves as Associate Artistic Director of Trenton Music Makers –A creative youth development organization focusing on empowering its students through high-quality music education.

Freddy was musically raised in “El Sistema'' in Venezuela and holds degrees from Temple University and West Chester University in Violin and Viola Performance; his major teachers include Simon Gollo, Vladimir Dyo, Adriana Linares and Domenic Salerni.

Besides his role as the violist of the Kahlo Quartet, Freddy is often invited to perform as a member of the Delaware Symphony, Lancaster Symphony, Classical Music Institute and Opera San Antonio.
